Gabal El-Medawara

The Round Hills in Fayoum (Gabal Al Medawara).  A hill in Fayoum on the lake that is used for sand boarding.  A perfect place to relax and contemplate life and discover authentic desert adventure in an area that is a reserve of wadi el hitan or Whale Valley.

Another scenic hiking option overlooking the Magic Lake; and a great place to camp and to marvel at the stars.

SANDBOARDING

Feel like spending a day out of the ordinary! Roll on the Dunes! Take loads of fun pictures of yourself in the desert!  Ride a 4 wheeler!  B.B.Q. lunch!  Lit a fire!  Dig a hole!   Burn marshmallow!

Just run around and go crazy!  The trip is aimed to show our travelers how to enjoy the desert while leaving it intact.  We don’t have to build resorts or change the desert’s nature in order to enjoy or make better use of our resources.  We could always get out of the city; have a blast and get back home taking nothing but photos and great memories and leaving nothing but footsteps.

Keep in Mind During your trip in Fayoum

Do’s

  • Drink a lot of water, Fayoum weather is very dry and it’s very easy to get dehydrated;
  • Carry some cash when heading to remote locations;
  • For sightseeing;  make sure you have a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, light cotton or linen clothes, and don’t forget comfortable shoes;
  • While visiting religious locations dress modestly and take off your shoes before entering a mosque.
  • Respect the local customs: these include dress code.
  • Always carry some kind of identification document.
  • Don’t assume you can pay with your credit card; always ask first

Don’ts

  • Don’t take pictures where you’re not allowed to;
  • Don’t take anything from the natural parks and reserves and keep them as clean as you can.
