What can we say – what a wonderful trip!
2 days exploring the desert and seeing secret places not many people get to see. We got to see the ancient ruined city of Demi el Seba, Qars el sagha temple, Wadi Hitan (Valley of the Whales), The Magic Lake, Egypt’s only waterfall and a petrified forest to name but a few things. These places are only accessible by a 4 x 4 vehicle. In all these places we were the only visitors so we could wander around and disturbed for as long as we wanted.
We camped overnight at The Valley of the Whales which was an amazing experience. After the noise and hustle and bustle of Cairo and Alexandria the absolute silence was a complete contrast. The night sky unspoilt by artificial light was beautiful and watching the sun rise over the desert the next morning was something we will always remember.
It was a very personal tour with just the two of us with a guide and driver. Samir was a brilliant guide so knowledgeable and passionate about the hidden treasures of Egypt. Hamada was our expert driver and looked after us so well with delicious meals and setting up our camping spot.
